Premiership Women’s Rugby season structure confirmed for 2024/25

The Premiership Women’s Rugby structure has been confirmed for the 2024/25 season.

Saturday 5 October is when the league season gets underway with the final taking place on Sunday 16 March, the day after the final round of the 2025 Men’s Guinness Six Nations.

Pre-season regional friendlies will be played on 7, 14 and 21 September in the ‘PWR Up Series’ building up to the season getting underway.

“With the support of all of our clubs we have decided to play a short regional competition in September so our players and clubs are raring to go for the start of the PWR season in October,”  said Belinda Moore, the Chief Executive of Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR).

“Our clubs are starting to develop close, regional rivalries and we believe this is just what our players and clubs need before the league season kicks off.”

The league will again consist of nine teams with each side receiving two rest weekends across the campaign.

“We want to do all we can to help England win the Women’s World Cup so this season structure was agreed after a very collaborative process with the RFU,” added Moore.

“Kicking off in October we can all look forward to a brilliant final which takes place 24 hours after Super Saturday in the Men’s Six Nations, creating an unmissable weekend of rugby next March.”

The full fixture list for the 2024/25 season will be confirmed in due course.
