Loughborough Lightning kick off their Premiership Women’s Rugby season with the visit of last season’s beaten finalists Bristol Bears to cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens.

The African Violets’ first trip on the road will be a televised affair on TNT Sports, as Trailfinders Women are the hosts on Sunday 13 October (kick-off: TBC). The two sides met three times last term, with Lightning securing a hat-trick of victories.
Sale Sharks are the second visitors to the Gardens on Saturday 19 October (kick-off: 2pm), with that fixture followed by trips to Harlequins on Saturday 26 October (kick-off: 3pm) and Exeter Chiefs on Sunday 10 November (kick-off: tbc) – a match that is also being televised live by TNT Sports.
PWR has confirmed the dates for the first six rounds of the league season, with dates and kick-off times for the remaining 10 rounds to be confirmed at a later date.
The eagerly-anticipated first half of the East Midlands Derby clashes with Leicester Tigers comes on the weekend of 23/24 November at the Gardens, with the reverse fixture coming at Mattioli Woods Welford Road on 25/26 January.
But you don’t have to wait that long to see the local rivals clash, as they meet in PWR Up Series on Saturday 21 September at the Gardens (kick-off: 3pm). Lightning’s closest home match to Christmas is the visit of Harlequins on 14/15 December and their first fixture of 2025 is a showdown with Saracens at the Gardens on 4/5 January.
Smith’s side conclude their regular season in front of their own supporters on 22/23 February against Trailfinders Women, with the semi-finals and Final of the competition scheduled for March – this season’s structure was agreed in collaboration with the RFU to enable international players sufficient rest and preparation time ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2025.
