Premiership Women’s Rugby can confirm that the 2025-26 league season will start on the weekend of 25-26 October three weeks after the Rugby World Cup Final is played before a world-record crowd at Twickenham.
The PWR Final will take place on the weekend of Saturday 27-28 June 2026, after 18 rounds of competitive action, and two semi-finals.
We can also confirm that there will be PWR action during the Rugby World Cup with the return of the PWR Cup. The Cup was won last April by Saracens on an unforgettable occasion against Bristol Bears and this year we will see games held across the country to help build the legacy of the World Cup and give fans club rugby to attend between international matches.

Amy Walmsley, PWR’s League Operations Manager: “We know that the Rugby World Cup is a generational moment for women’s rugby and will create a huge opportunity for both PWR and our clubs to grow and celebrate with their fans.
“We need the most effective season structure to do that, with the optimum time between the Rugby World Cup Final and our first league match to ensure we capitalise on what we already know will be the biggest and best World Cup ever, whilst also ensuring player welfare with adequate rest across the season.”
