Northampton Saints ran in nine tries and came back from 21-0 down against Newcastle Falcons to secure their place in the Premiership Rugby Cup final with a sensational 59-33 victory.
Newcastle led after tries from Sonatane Takulua, Josh Matavesi and Vereniki Goneva, and looked like they might run away with the game as Zach Kiribige notched another moments after George Furbank responded for Saints.
But Ahsee Tuala and Lewis Ludlam scored just before half-time to start the comeback, before a frenetic second half saw a double from replacement Heinrich Brüssow, as well as scores from Jamie Gibson, James Fish, Taqele Naiyaravoro, and Luther Burrell to help Chris Boyd’s side pull away.
The win at Franklin’s Gardens sets up a final clash with Saracens on home soil on Sunday 17 March (kick-off: 3pm), with tickets going on sale Thursday 14 February at 9am.
