Voting for the cinch Player of the Month award for December is open, with supporters able to choose the Saint they believe made the biggest contribution on the pitch in the last month of 2024.
The competition will remain open until Thursday 16 January, when the winning player will be announced by Northampton Saints and cinch.
Throughout the season, cinch are also offering up a range of prizes for those who vote for the award, with one lucky supporter each month selected at random after voting closes. For December, one lucky winner will receive a Saints ball signed by the winner of this month’s vote!
Saints kicked off their Investec Champions Cup campaign last month, continuing their unbeaten run in the pool stages as they defeated Castres Olymique (38-8) and Vodacom Bulls (21-30) in the competition’s opening clashes.
And while Northampton went back into the Gallagher Premiership with a disappointing loss to Saracens (39-24), the men in Black, Green and Gold rounded off 2024 with a resounding victory over Newcastle Falcons (61-0).
With those clashes in mind, Saints’ coaches have selected four nominees for the monthly award; Trevor Davison, Tommy Freeman, Alex Mitchell, Henry Pollock and Fin Smith.
Prop Davison excelled in Saints’ front row in December, featuring in three of Northampton’s four outings. The 32-year-old crossed the whitewash twice in the clash against Newcastle, while also helping the men in Black, Green and Gold’s scrum to an 87% success rate across the month.
Freeman added four scores to Saints’ tally last month, including a brace against Bulls – with the wing also making 20 carries and 18 tackles, hitting 30 attacking rucks and making six turnovers in his four starts in December.
Another try-scorer in December, scrum-half Mitchell got himself on Saints’ scoresheet against Newcastle Falcons as he got back into action in Black, Green and Gold to start all four of Northampton’s clashes – while also making 21 carries and 17 tackles across the month.
19-year-old Pollock continued his impressive run of form, featuring in all four of Saints’ clashes last month – making 28 carries and 39 tackles, hitting 37 attacking rucks and making five turnovers – while getting himself on the scoresheet against Castres.
Finally, fly-half Smith enjoyed another strong month in Black, Green and Gold as he featured in all four of Saints’ outings – scoring 34 points with his boot while also making 44 tackles and securing six turnovers in December.
