Northampton Saints today announce a new partnership with Collingwood Lighting, who become the Official LED Lighting Partner, and a Sustainability Partner, to the Club.
This collaboration is set to significantly enhance the club's commitment to sustainability. Saints’ ambition is to make cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens the most sustainable rugby stadium in the country, and for the Club to be a pioneer for sustainability in rugby and beyond.
Collingwood Lighting’s LED lighting solutions will now be implemented throughout cinch Stadium, illuminating hospitality areas, walkways, concourses, and other key areas to not only enhance the experience of supporters but also to underline the Club’s commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable practices.
As part of this new partnership, Collingwood Lighting will showcase its energy-efficient products during designated matchdays, raising awareness about sustainability within sport. Collingwood Lighting’s logo will also feature prominently across Saints’ communication channels, social media, and the Club’s website.
“We are delighted to welcome Collingwood Lighting as a key partner in our sustainability efforts,” said Ulundi Makhanya, Director of Commercial Partnerships at Northampton Saints.
“Their innovative approach to LED lighting aligns perfectly with our own ambitions in the sustainability space, and we look forward to working together to progress our transition towards LED lighting across cinch Stadium, while inspiring our community to embrace environmentally friendly practices.”

Saints are signed up to the UN’s Sports for Climate Action Framework – committing to the UN’s five climate action principles and setting a net-zero emissions target by 2040 – as well as being a member of BASIS (the British Association for Sustainable Sport), the sustainability hub for the UK sports industry.
Last season, the Club hosted its first ‘Green Game’, which aimed to promote sustainable practices in rugby and engage supporters in the importance of environmental responsibility – and Collingwood Lightning also hope to help enhance the work that Saints are doing in this area.
Saints have also made significant strides towards a net-zero emissions target in recent years, with initiatives including using electricity from exclusively renewable sources (or generating our own via the installation of hundreds of solar panels), innovative pitch irrigation solutions, minimising waste and the use of single-use plastics, introducing water refill points around cinch Stadium, offering locally-sourced or plant-based food, and improving our energy monitoring and carbon reporting processes.
Matt Webber, Managing Director at Collingwood Lighting, added: “This partnership with Northampton Saints represents a significant opportunity for us to advance our sustainability initiatives.
“Through the partnership, we aim to showcase our commitment to energy-efficient lighting solutions while engaging fans and the wider community in discussions about sustainability.”
