Loughborough Lightning kick-off their 2022/23 season with a trip to Wasps, as the Allianz Premier 15s and Allianz Cup schedule was today confirmed by the RFU.
Rhys Edwards’ side get their campaign underway with four rounds of Cup clashes, beginning at Twyford Avenue Sports Ground, before the league begins on 19 November when Loughborough head to holders Saracens.
Lightning’s first clash on home soil comes in Round 2 of the Cup when they play host to Bristol Bears, with the side welcoming 2021 league champions Harlequins to Epinal Way for their first home Premier 15s outing.
Heading into its sixth campaign, the league competition will again be played over 18 regular rounds with home and away fixtures culminating in semi-final play-offs (10 June 2023) between the top four teams and a title final (24 June 2023) five weeks later.
Meanwhile, the Cup competition is played out in a round-robin format, with two pools of five clubs (four fixtures and one bye per club) – two home fixtures and two away fixtures per team.
A number of Loughborough's fixtures will be played at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens this season, with further details on those games to be announced in the coming weeks.
