Despite suffering a last-minute defeat to Gloucester Rugby as they travelled to Kingsholm in the third round of the Premiership Rugby Cup, Saints still sit in prime position to enter the knock-out rounds after three games.
Saints held the lead as the clock went red at Kingsholm on Friday night, thanks to two impressive scores from Piers Francis and Cobus Reinach, but the hosts refused to lie down and after a lengthy TMO review, were awarded a try in injury time to secure the win – although Saints’ losing bonus point at least kept them at the summit of their group in the competition.
