While the side picked up wins over Harlequins and Newcastle following a stunning East Midlands derby victory at the Gardens, the centre suggests that the side have been far from their best in recent weeks.
“Obviously we were disappointed last weekend at Sale,” Burrell told SaintsTV. “I think the last two or three weeks we’ve slipped a little in form but we were still picking up the points.
“That might have been overshadowing some factors that we need to work on. In hindsight the loss has probably given us a kick up the backside we needed.
“This Sunday is a different competition and a new focus against opposition who have some world class players. It’s about getting our game plan right, going back to the basics and doing what we are good at.
“I think the one thing this team does well though is react. We showed that after the Exeter game [Saints previous loss before Sale] and while it’s going to be a tough game this weekend, we’ll be looking to do the same again.”
