Alex Mitchell has been added to Steve Borthwick’s 33-man England squad ahead of the upcoming Rugby World Cup.
The 26-year-old links up with the wider squad after Leicester Tigers’ scrum-half Jack van Poortvliet was ruled out through injury during Saturday’s 19-17 victory over Wales.
Mitchell joins the squad at Pennyhill Park alongside fellow Northampton Saints teammates Courtney Lawes and Lewis Ludlam, with England’s preparations to take on Ireland in their third warm-up match on Saturday (19 August) well underway.
