Northampton Saints vs Newcastle Falcons

Time's up as we set the lineout and Saints defend hard as Falcons are forced to play on.

After a few resets we eventually get the scrum away but the penalty goes Falcons' way. Connon puts it into touch for a lineout just outside Falcons' 22. 

Advantage coming for Saints as Falcons are offside and Saints choose the scrum. 

Smith finds Dingwall off the maul and Saints push forwards in the midfield now.

Penalty Saints at the lineout as Falcons push early and the referee awards Saints an extras few metres for Falcons back chat. Grayson puts it into the corner.

Huge shove from Saints and then there's an offside penalty against Falcons off the back of the scrum. Eventually we come back for the latter and Grayson sends it to touch for the lineout inside Falcons' 22. 

Forward pass from Falcons as they come forwards though and Saints will have the scrum on halfway. 

Young clears the restart and Sleightholme is under it. He does well to keep the ball in but Falcons intercept a stray Saints pass and Carreras goes for a drop goal. Its wide though and Saints will have the 22 drop out.

Free kick Saints at the scrum and Braley takes it quickly. But Falcons turn the ball over at the next phase and play on.

Salakaia-Loto holds Falcons up as they push forwards and Saints earn the put in at the scrum for his efforts. 

No conversion from Connon out wide but there's a penalty against Saints on the restart. Connon puts it into touch for a lineout inside Saints' half. 

Falcons clear and it's a 50/22 kick so Falcons have the lineout inside Saints' 22. 

No conversion from Connon out wide but Saints fail to roll away on the restart and Connon puts it into touch. Lineout Falcons.

Ludlam and Salakaia-Loto enter play as we restart, with Augustus and Ribbans making way.

Young clears from the maul and Collins is under it. Saints come forwards and Braley chips over the top but Falcons get there first.

Hill is replaced by Petch as we restart. 

Moon is up for the lineout and Braley whips the ball out into the midfield. But there Falcons are given a penalty and Connon puts it into touch for a lineout. 

Saints try to come left again but there's an advantage coming for them which we come back for. Furbank puts it into the corner.

Saints play from deep on the restart., with Collins firing down the left but his chip to himself is dotted down over the try line by Falcons. Goal line drop out for Newcastle. 

No conversion from Grayson out wide and Smith and Braley replace Matavesi and Mitchell as we restart. 

Saints peel forwards down the right and Sleightholme gets things into Falcons' 22. There's an advantage coming for Saints as they keep coming.

A Waller is replaced by E Waller as we set the scrum.

Mitchell clears from the restart and Falcons play on on halfway. But Connon's kick through heads over the deadfall line and we come all the way back to halfway for a Saints scrum. 

Overthrow at the lineout though and Falcons dive on it. Stuart clears and Saints play on. 

Saints maul forwards and have the advantage coming there which we come back for. Grayson puts it into the corner as Ribbans returns to the field.

HIA for Hutchinson and Proctor enters play. 

Saints maul forwards before Mitchell dances down the the short side. He makes it almost up to Falcons' 22 before the home side send it wife left. There's a head knock there to Hutchinson there though and we pause the game while he's seen to.

Furbank is up for the restart and Mitchel clears. Connon is back there and he clears to touch too. Lineout Saints inside their own half. 

Coles is up for the lineout and Saints maul forwards before whipping the ball out into the midfield. 

Advantage coming for Saints from the maul and eventually we come back for it. Grayson puts it into the corner again.

Dingwall slips through a gap in Falcons line but there's deliberate knock on and we're with the TMO to check it for foul play. 

Stuart clears Falcons' line but the ball heads straight out and Saints have the lineout just outside Falcons' 22. 

Mitchell clears long from the restart and Falcons have a lineout back inside their own half. 

Only one point in it here at Connon gets us restarted!

Another penalty coming for Falcons from the maul as they push into Saints' 22 again.

Connon puts the resulting penalty into the corner. 

Sleightholme gets over the ball but we come back for the penalty still being played and Connon puts it into the corner.

Penalty coming Falcons' way from the maul as they bring the ball out into the midfield.

Falcons earn a penalty as Saints are found off their feet at the ruck and Stuart takes it quickly. Carreras gets play up to the five metre line and they earn a penalty there too. Connon puts it into the corner. 

Mitchell clears off the lineout and Falcons will have one of their own just outside Saints' 22.

Falcons thing they've scored through Radwan but a trip to the TMO finds he's in touch and Saints have the lineout.

Overthrow at the lineout and Matavesi jumps on it but he's stripped in the tackle and Falcons play on.

Saints come forwards still but there's a penalty against the home side as they work close and Connon sends it to touch for a Falcons lineout just outside their own 22. 

Saints are inside Falcons' 22 quickly and Sleightholme gets things up to the five metre line now. 

Stuart clears the restart and Saints will have the lineout.

Falcons strip the ball in a tackle though and work into Saints' half. There the home side slow Newcastle's progress but eventually Falcons make it into Saints' 22. 

Saints maul forwards for the lineout but there's a knock on from the home side as it breaks up and Falcons clear long. Collins is back there and Saints play on again.

Coles is up for the lineout and Saints whip the ball wide left. Furbank puts the ball on his boot and Falcons dive on it but Sleightholme gets over the ball to earn Saints the penalty. Grayson puts it into the corner.

Falcons clear from the lineout and Saints will have this lineout now.

Grayson breaks free on the restart and Saints come forwards to the halfway line quickly. And the home side earn a penalty there too. Mitchell takes it quickly and Sleightholme gets things into the 22. But his offload to Ribbans sees the lock pushed into touch. Lineout Falcons inside their own 22. 

Saints push forwards from the lineout, working up to the five metre line quickly. And they get another penalty there as Falcons fail to release. Grayson points to the posts.

Saints scramble up to the 22 line now and have an advantage coming. Eventually we come back for it and Grayson puts it into the corner. 

Coles is up for the lineout and Saints maul forwards before Mitchell gets the ball out. Hutchinson jinks forwards but his offload finds Falcons hands. Stuart clears and Saints play on. 

Penalty Saints at the scrum and Grayson puts it into the corner. 

Knock on Falcons at the lineout and Saints will have the scrum. 

Penalty Falcons at the lineout and Connon clears to touch again. Lineout Falcons on halfway. 

Scrappy off the back of the scrum and though Mitchell dives on the loose ball, Falcons get over it to earn themselves the penalty. Connon clears to touch for a Falcons lineout just outside their own 22. 

Good shove from Saints but Falcons keep hold of the ball before Connon clears. Saints are under it and they come forwards, with Furbank finding Hutchinson out wide. The centre puts the ball on his boot and though Falcons hands get there first, the ball is carried over the try line. Five metre scrum to Saints.

Grayson puts Dingwall through a gap to get Saints up to Falcons' five metre line but there's a knock on in the contact there and Falcons will have the scrum. 

Furbank sends the ball long downfield and Penny is under it. But the Newcastle fullback sends his clearing kick straight out and Saints will have the lineout just outside Falcons' 22. 

Falcons come forwards after Saints return the restart their way but Northampton's defence holds them on halfway and Stuart is forced to box clear. Sleightholme is under it and Saints play on again.

Hinkley and then Ribbans get Saints into Falcons' 22 quickly off the lineout and the home side keep coming.

Falcons try to come wide off the scrum but it heads into touch. And Saints earn the penalty there too as Falcons stop the home side taking a quick lineout. Grayson puts it into touch for a lineout on Falcons' 22. 

Saints' backs put the ball through the hands, trying to get it to space out wide but the ball comes forwards as Furbank hits contact and Falcons have the scrum on halfway. 

Saints are almost over the ball off the lineout but Falcons keep it and Stuart boxes high. Sleightholme gets under it and Saints play on.

Grayson rips the ball in the tackle as Falcons come forwards off the lineout. Augustus comes forwards before Sleightholme drops the ball on his boot. But this kick heads straight out too. Lineout Falcons on halfway.

No conversion from Grayson out wide but Saints push forwards from the restart before the fly-half dinks the ball through. Falcons gather and send back Saints' way but Grayson's clearing kick heads straight out. Lineout Falcons.

Saints whip the ball left to right and exploit space down the right wing to get into Falcons' 22. Still they push. 

Overthrow at the lineout and McGuigan dives on it. Falcons come forwards before Connon kicks to touch. But the ball heads straight out and we come back for a Saints lineout inside Falcons' half. 

Stuart sends the ball high on the kick-off and Furbank gets under it. Grayson clears and Penny returns but the Saints fly-half is under it again. Aerial tennis ensues and Saints earn the penalty as they get over the ball as it comes down. Grayson puts it into touch for a lineout inside Falcons' half.
