Scotland international hooker Robbie Smith made his Northampton Saints debut in September 2022 against London Irish and clocked nearly 30 appearances in his first two seasons at the Club.
Unfortunately, season three was ended after just five games back in October 2024, when he suffered a terrible knee injury in the home victory over Sale Sharks.
Cruelly, the setback also came just a few months after he had made his senior Test debut for Scotland off the bench against Canada, before earning a second cap against the USA a week later. Smith had previously represented his country at Under-20, Under-18 and Under-16 level.
Born in south-west Scotland, Smith’s rugby journey began at Newton Stewart and Ayr before joining Glasgow Warriors’ Academy set-up. He headed south of the border to join Saints’ partner club Bedford Blues for the Covid-impacted 2019/2020 season.
His next career move was a venture back north, but into the Premiership with Newcastle Falcons. Smith’s last of ten outings for the Kingston Park club saw him showcase his talents to Saints supporters when he scored two tries against as visiting player to cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens in a Premiership Rugby Cup encounter in March 2022.
