LOCATION: cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens
OVERVIEW:
Northampton Saints are offering the opportunity for a creative, confident and enthusiastic individual to support the Club’s Communications and Content departments on an Industrial Placement from September 2025 to the end of June 2026.
This is an exciting position for a university student looking to gain experience in communications and content creation during their placement year. A background in journalism and/or content creation would be beneficial.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the communications and media strategy of Northampton Saints, helping to protect and enhance the reputation of the Club
- Provide media support for the first team, under-18s and women’s sides on matchdays
- Support the production of all external communications for the Club, producing consistency in tone of voice and delivery of our brand
- Proactively find stories to promote Northampton Saints and write copy for the Club’s website, matchday programme, and social media channels
- Assist with campaigns which support Saints’ overall marketing, commercial and CSR strategies – this will involve working with numerous stakeholders across the Club including Partnerships, Community, Hospitality/Events and Ticketing departments, as well as our charity, Northampton Saints Foundation
The duties and responsibilities outlined above are not exhaustive and the successful applicant may be required to undertake additional duties to meet the needs of the organisation.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A thorough understanding and enjoyment of rugby, and knowledge of the sport’s current landscape
- A passion for developing best-in-class content and communications campaigns
- Strong copywriting skills and sharp attention to detail
- A keen news sense and innovative/creative ideas for ways in which the Club could bring supporters closer to the team(s)
- Evidence of producing engaging social media content, and an understanding of how to tailor content to individual platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube)
- Experience writing copy across a range of platforms – in particular for marketing materials, social media, and news websites
- A desire to learn fast and adapt quickly
- Ability to organise and work independently to tight deadlines
- An openness to working flexible hours outside of the traditional ‘nine to five’
- A full, clean UK driving license and ability to travel
- Basic experience shooting/editing video or creating graphics would also be beneficial
