Premiership Rugby have today confirmed the schedule for the new-look Premiership Rugby Cup, with Northampton Saints set to lock horns with Ealing Trailfinders, Cambridge RUFC, Bristol Bears, Bath Rugby and Doncaster Knights in the pool stage of the competition.
The tournament – which includes Championship clubs as well as Premiership outfits for the first time ever this season – runs for five rounds from Friday 8 September, setting the stage ahead of the start of the Gallagher Premiership season on Friday 13 October.
The men in Black, Green and Gold will kick off their Cup campaign in front of the TV cameras on Sunday 10 September, as they face last season’s Championship runners-up Ealing Trailfinders for the first time in the Club’s history.
Saints then play host to Midlands neighbours Cambridge in Round 2 – with the Championship side heading to cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday 16 September.
Back-to-back clashes with fellow Premiership sides follow for Northampton in Round 3 and 4 as Saints travel to Bristol Bears on Saturday 23 September before welcoming Bath Rugby to the Gardens the following Saturday (30 September).
And Phil Dowson’s side round off the pool stages of the tournament on home soil, as Doncaster Knights come to Northampton on Saturday 7 October – with the match kicking off at 2.45pm* to avoid a clash with England’s Rugby World Cup clash with Samoa.
The pool stages will take place over five consecutive weekends from Friday 8 September to Sunday 8 October, with the semi-finals held over the weekend of 16-18 February and the final 15-17 March.

The fixtures for the 2023/24 Gallagher Premiership will be announced on Tuesday 18 July.
