Manoa shone last month as Saints drew 19-19 at Leicester Tigers before comprehensively ending Saracens’ winning start to the season with a 41-20 victory. Throw in a losing bonus point at Castres and a home win over the Ospreys in the Heineken Cup 'Pool of Death' and it was a reasonable month for the men in black, green and gold.
The USA international touched down during that commanding performance at Franklin’s Gardens and his form has continued as Northampton’s unbeaten league run has stretched to five games.
And Manoa – Saints’ Supporters Player of the Year last season – insists he is not in it for the personal accolades but he is happy to reveal his great dietary secret.
“Eat a Big Mac from McDonalds – that is what I do,” he said. “I am proud. If you work hard and play hard, it shows.
“I don’t really try and play just to get awards – that just comes with it if you play hard. I play for the squad, for the boys and for the team.
“I am just trying to do more and help out the squad in the best way I can and hopefully the team sees what I bring to the table. I am just trying to stay healthy and stay fit.
“There is a lot of stuff I can improve on but I am playing pretty well right now. I have just got to keep up with it. Life is good and I am just taking it day by day. Every day is just another day in paradise.”
