At a sunlit Franklin's Gardens and in front of a healthy crowd which included several members of the Saints first team squad, the club's youngsters put in a good all-round performance.
Although it was the backs who captured the headlines by scoring all seven tries - Alex Wootton, Tom Collins and Josh Skelcey all grabbing two apiece, Tom Stephenson the other score - Academy manager Alan Dickens took time to praise the performance of the pack, six of whom were stiil qualified for Under-18 rugby.
"We had a very, very young pack and I was very pleased with their performance," he said. "They provided a great platform for the backs to play from and after a tough pre-season it was good to see us step up against a good Leicester team.
"The counter-attacking was excellent and the backs finished the tries well. We did make things a bit hard for ourselves by letting them into the contest a bit in the second half, but a late try sealed the win and the game gave us plenty to take forward into our next games."
